Let’s talk about homes.

Homes we can afford. Homes we can be safe in. Homes we can be warm in.

We have to stop just talking about the need and put talk into action.

We must find solutions to create a variety of affordable (or attainable if you prefer) homes. I am following the progress of the Bluegrass Tiny Home Village just outside of Duncan, and other tiny home endeavours on the coast, with great interest.

It will take all levels of government working together, but we can do it. We have to.

Homes also includes the natural world around us.

Our environment is critical to our well-being. Our wetlands and bountiful forested areas need us to protect them while we seek peace recreating within them. This is not something we can ever take for granted or become complacent about.

We can have an economy that allows us to have that warm roof over our heads, recreate in the nature around us and maintain a healthy ecosystem at the same time.

We also need good food in our homes.

Even if you only know me a little, you know food security is a hot topic for me. Local food production is a big part of that.

I am a member of Groundswell and I am keenly interested in everything they do. Community gardens, school programs, our new seed library…these are all high on my priority list.

What are your thoughts? How can we address some of these issues?
